2012 in cancelled projects, alternate directions, abandoned sketches and bad ideas.
All rough sketches from this year that never went anywhere, or changed drastically on the road to final.
Amazing stuff from Mr Olly Moss!
Mod Men: The World of Mad Men Through a 21st-Century Lens | The Shutterstock Blog
“Our designers set their sights on the main Mad Men characters with that in mind, choosing an everyday symbol from their daily lives and transforming it through a 21-century lens. While most of these folks would be doing very similar work today, the tools they use to get it done would be quite different.”

“I designed three pieces to promote the 2009-2010 season of the Théâtre de la Bordée: the season’s brochure, a pamphlet/flyer and a play’s poster. I wanted to create a visual that would stand out among Quebec’s three other major theaters. The design had to appeal to La Bordée’s current clients (mostly mid-aged ladies) and also attract younger ones (18-30). I picked some daring, vivid colours that really catches one’s eye and I balanced their impact by placing the text in a more conventional way. I used some drop caps to create more impact and add sophistication to the whole look.”

“The strategic positioning ‘Strong Together’ was visually articulated in the overlapping of the individual letters of the brandmark. A broad spectrum of colours was used to represent core internal pillars of love, hope, strength, wisdom and belonging creating a positive brand expression for both internal and external audiences. Developing the system further, supergraphics were created using enlarged, cropped sections of the brand device. This strong visual language and colour system has been applied to all facets of the business from online, office interiors, merchandise and wayfinding signage.”

Anything photographed with macro photography takes on a whole new level of beauty. Color, form, depth seen at a perspective only available when magnified. Size does not exist without the ability of comparison. Form must continue infinitely towards the smallest levels just as its inverse continues to the largest, without end in either direction.
